FilmCritique.co.uk has moved!

Our sincerest apologies to anyone who's tried to access FilmCritique.co.uk over the past few days. Chances are you will have seen some error messages or possibly nothing at all.

During the migration of FilmCritique.co.uk from the JAH WD servers to our own, we encountered a few problems (thanks to a certain useless hosting provider that we won't mention).

Anyway, we can now put that all behind us and breath easy as it seems our brand spanking new server (courtesy of 34SP.COM) is working a treat.

If, however, you do notice any teething problems, please do let us know.

Transformers Update

You may have recently seen the stunning trailer at your local cinema, and it's hard not to be somewhat curious. Even if, like me, you're not really into kid's toys and comic books, the sheer scale of the previewed action doesn't fail to grab your attention. The movie reveals a war between two robot armies - the Autobots (who protect us humans) and the malicious Decepticons. Both have the ability to transform between robot and vehicle forms. The film has already done well in the US, taking an incredible $152 million in its first week. You can see it in UK cinemas from 27th July 2007. To find out more about Transformers and view the trailers, visit Yahoo! Movies. Also make sure you check out the official Transformers website. You can expect a full review on FilmCritique.co.uk in August.

Alvin and the Chipmunks Movie Revealed

After the recently announced Thundercats Movie, fans of 80's cartoons will be pleased to hear that another one is making its way to the big screen. However, if you take a closer look at the recently released poster (right), it suggests that the chipmunks' wardrobes have been fashionably updated to suit kids of the 21st century. I certainly don't remember them hiding their faces with teenage hoodies back in the 80's! Jason Lee plays the main role of David Seville while Ross Bagdasarian Jr. does the voice for Alvin/Simon and Janice Karman for Theodore. No plot details have been announced as yet, but you can expect to see the movie in cinemas just before Christmas (14th December) this year.

Thundercats Movie Announced

Warner Bros have recently announced the production of a Thundercats CGI movie for the big screen. For anyone who doesn't know, Thundercats was a very popular cartoon in the 1980s. The script (written by a Paul Sopocy) tells the story of Lion-O becoming leader of the Thundercats and the creation of the villainous Mumm-Ra. You can expect to see appearances from all the main characters in the original cartoon, although any casting is yet to be confirmed. According to the IMDb, the film is scheduled for release in 2010. For further information on the Thundercats and this forthcoming movie, please see this Variety.com article.

Die Hard 4.0 Update

It seems that the previously advertised title (Live Free Or Die Hard) for the next film in the Die Hard series is for the US alone. Over here in the UK, the film will be known as Die Hard 4.0 (a reference to the hi-tech terrorism involved in the plot, and a much improved title I'm sure you'll agree). Whether the film itself will live up to the high standard set by its predecessors remains to be seen (I have to say personally I'm not holding my breath). It is also disappointing to hear that the film has been rated PG-13 over in the US and so will probably be given a 12A certificate over here - I guess they'll have to come up with a new tag-line for John McClane. The film is scheduled for release on 6th July 2007 and you can expect a full review on FilmCritique.co.uk shortly afterwards. For further information you can watch the trailers on Yahoo! Movies and visit the official site.

Limited Edition Simpsons Xbox 360 Unveiled

Microsoft have recently revealed a Simpsons Movie themed, limited edition Xbox 360. The bright yellow design featuring everyone's favourite character, Homer, is bound to turn more than a few heads, but you'll be lucky to see one in the flesh. It is reported that Microsoft are only producing 100 of these (standard 20GB) units and they're only to be given away at special promotional events and competitions (so expect to see them on eBay in the near future at extortionate prices). Meanwhile, Samsung are releasing a bright yellow mobile phone to tie-in with the movie's release. For more information on The Simpsons Movie (due for release on 27th July), visit the official site.

Shrek The Third Update

Arriving in UK cinemas at the end of June, Shrek The Third follows on from the huge success of the first two Shrek films. Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Antonio Banderas and Cameron Diaz all return to help the reluctant, oversized green ogre find someone else to be king. Some new characters/voices have been thrown into the mix including the voice of one Justin Timberlake no less. More details and a teaser trailer can be found on Yahoo! Movies, while there's all sorts of things to keep Shrek fans entertained on the official Shrek The Third website. Expect to see a full review on FilmCritique.co.uk during the first half of July this year.

The Simpsons Movie Update

Another film that's bound to rank well on many people's "can't wait" list is The Simpsons Movie. Not much has been given away in terms of the film's plot, but so far 3 teaser trailers have been released to give you an idea of what to expect. Reassuringly, there is a notable improvement in the quality of this film's animation over regular episodes of The Simpsons. The big question is whether the standard of writing will be up there with early episodes of the TV show. The movie is scheduled for release on 27th July this year. Check out all the trailers on Apple and visit the official Simpsons Movie website. You can expect to see a review on FilmCritique.co.uk within days of its release.

The Bourne Ultimatum Update

The Bourne Ultimatum, due to be released in UK cinemas on 17th August 2007, follows on from previous Bourne films - The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy. I am personally a huge fan of the first two films and have been anticipating the release of The Bourne Ultimatum for well over two years now. After what seemed to be a fairly conclusive second film, you're probably left wondering how they're going to continue the plot. If you want to find out, there's some plot details and a recent theatrical trailer on Yahoo! Movies Bourne Ultimatum pages. Rest assured you'll find a review on FilmCritique.co.uk within days of its release. For further information visit The Bourne Ultimatum official site and The Bourne Ultimatum on the IMDb.
