What Women Want

Nick Marshall, a Chicago advertising executive, gets a whole new outlook on life when a fluke accident gives him the ability to read women's minds. At first, this "gift" provides Nick with way too much information, but he begins to realize that he can use it to good effect, especially when it comes to outwitting his new boss, Darcy Maguire. In spite of his best efforts to finesse Darcy, he soon finds himself falling in love and truly understanding what women want.

In this rather ordinary comedy Mel Gibson plays and advertising executive who after an electric shock finds he can hear the thoughts of all the women around him. Predictably he uses this 'gift' to seduce those of his choice and further his career by using other people's ideas, until his conscience gets the better of him. Mel Gibson is not well cast - he looks rather old for the role and I don't think his skills lie in comedy. However the worst aspect of this film is that I found it offensively sexist - mainly because the audible thoughts of most of the women were inane and trivial.
